How it all began:

In 1984 Daya Moodley started a small landside logistics company, Shipping and General Transport Services in a tiny office, in a container depot south of Johannesburg. It is said ‘Never despise the day of small beginnings.’ Shipping & General Transport Services are a testament to that. We know the enormous value of small beginnings. Today his son, Regan Moodley directs Shipping and General Transport Services from the company’s very own container depot not too far from its humble beginnings. Regan commands a fleet of over 100 heavy commercial vehicles with the same passion and principles which his father founded the company on:

Trustworthiness. Reliability. Perseverance.

How we add value

At Shipping & General Transport Services we are all about exceptional service delivery. From the moment we are engaged as your provider until your freight reaches its destination, you are our priority. Our Executive team lead by example and are intimately involved in the day-to-day operations of our system. Working closely with each client across all disciplines, we are experts at developing holistic landside logistics supply chain solutions. Our project management methodology ensures that our proposed solutions are priced attractively, implemented timeously and quickly becomes an operational reality.

What we do

Originally established in 1984, the company set off to provide a local road transportation service to forwarders, importers and exporters at a time that coincided with South Africa’s entry into international containerised transportation. Client requirements and new market inclinations provided opportunities to progress into warehousing and long haulage to and from our country’s flagship Port of Durban and Johannesburg. Our privilege is our presence on the N3 corridor. Today, the company has evolved into a reputable one-call service provider of landside logistic services to amongst others, the South African clearing & forwarding, shipping, mining, energy, manufacturing, import & export markets.

Commitment to Sustainability

Shipping & Generals commitment to sustaining and enhancing the standards of living goes beyond the freight we transport and manage. It includes a promise to conduct our business with the utmost respect for the world around us; to work in a way that meets the needs of the present without compromising future generations. Some call that sustainability. We call it noble business. Shipping & General has been conducting business in an environmentally responsible manner long before it was en vogue to be green. Throughout our organisation, Shipping & General aggressively pursues a sustainable future. We’re doing our part by reducing gas emissions, improving fuel efficiency and upgrading the energy efficiency of our facilities to reduce our carbon footprint.
